What is the primary difference between jelly and jam?

  2. Jelly is made from just the juice... jam is the whole fruit.

  3. I prefer preserves, but Jam is the mushed up fruit, while jelly is clear and jelly like.

  4. Matt is correct. Jelly also has pectin and Jam doesn't. I only know this because many years ago, I made jelly.
