Hey, I'm 100% Irish, I know this story! TURNIPS! This guy jack was not allowed to go to heaven but because he played tricks on the devil, he couldn't go to hell either so he had a carved out turnip that he used to see his way around since he had no where to go. it had something to make a light inside, but I don't remember what it was.
